   Analysis on the Economic Operation of China’s Cigarettes Industry in 2004
After three years stable growth, China’s cigarettes industry remained the sound growth situation in the year 2004.  Both cigarettes production and marketing thrived, the production structure got improved and performance increased sharply. The prices of cigarettes kept stable while the profit and annual output in production and sales of famous brands of cigarettes and leading enterprises went up rapidly.......

Both cigarettes production and operation remained a sound development in 2004. Annual output in production and sales increased coordinately and storage was well-control. China had an annual cigarettes production capacity of 1873.59 billion cigarettes (37.472 million boxes) in 2004, increased by 4.7% compared with that of year 2003. The sales volume of cigarettes reached 1877.86 billion cigarettes (37.557 million boxes), went up 4.5% over the previous year. Cigarettes industrial and commercial storage remained a lower storage of 130.443 billion cigarettes (2.609 million boxes) in 2004, reduced by 0.611 billion cigarettes (12 thousand boxes) from the storage of 131.053 billion cigarettes (2.621 million boxes) in 2003. 
  Cigarettes Production Structure Improved Stably
 Cigarettes production structure improved stably, the production of first, second and third- grade cigarettes went up while the fourth and fifth grade cigarettes production dropped. The proportion of the production of first, second and third grade cigarettes rose 0.9%,2.6% and 4.0%  year-on-year respectively in 2004 while the production proportion of the fourth and fifth grade cigarettes were 2.8% and 4.7% respectively lower than the same period of last year.....
 

 Price Index of Cigarettes Was Stable as a Whole
Price index of cigarettes were stable as a whole, the price of cigarettes produced in Shanghai mounted up while the price of 100 cigarettes brands, leading cigarettes enterprises and cigarettes produced in Yunnan dropped slightly.
